I KILLED MY MOTHER (J’ai Tué Ma Mère)
(2009) dir Xavier Dolan w/Anne Dorval, Xavier Dolan, François Arnaud, Suzanne Clément [96 min]
I KILLED MY MOTHER explores the turbulent relationship between a mother and son in this stunning, semi-autobiographical tour de force from 20-year-old writer, director, producer, and performer Xavier Dolan.
Hubert Minel doesn’t like his mom. In fact, he hates her. His contempt for her maternal habits and blatant manipulations, coupled with a need to explore a budding relationship with another man, force a turn of events that will change his life forever.
