THE RUNWAY is inspired by the true story of a South American pilot who crashed his plane near Mallow, Co. Cork in 1983. In this charming film, the fractious community must come together to decide the fate of their visitor, and nine-year-old Paco is called up to translate as the town’s sole Spanish speaker. Through a translation rich with poetic license, Paco manages to convince the town to help his new Colombian friend by building him a runway.
