Centennial Tribute to Danny Kaye

BUY TICKETS: 7:15  Brattle Passes Accepted

Plays in place of THE COURT JESTER. Double Feature with A SONG IS BORN.

(1954) dir Michael Curtiz w/Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, Vera-Ellen, Dean Jagger [120 min; DCP]
A pair of former army buddies turned song-and-dance team (Crosby and Kaye) become smitten by the members of a sister singing act (Clooney and Ellen) and follow them to an inn in Vermont expecting a winter wonderland. Problem is, it’s 68 degrees in December and there’s no snow on the ground in the Green Mountain State – which spells disaster for the inn’s owner who just happens to be Kaye and Crosby’s former commanding officer. OK, so the plot’s a bit dodgy but the Irving Berlin score and the wit and grace of Kaye more than make up for it. Trivia: Rosemary Clooney is George Clooney’s aunt!
