After premiering the first two part of this much anticipated ‘rebuild’ of the legendary Neon Genesis Evangelion series in 2009 and 2011, we are thrilled to host the Boston premiere of the next chapter: EVANGELION 3.0: YOU CAN (NOT) REDO. For those Brattle patrons not in the know, EVANGELION is one of the most popular and highly respected sagas in the Japanese animated universe and, yes, it prominently features giant robots. The central premise of the series is that the Earth is under apocalyptic threat by monstrous creatures known as Angels. The Angels are combated by a shadowy organization named Nerv that enlists certain special teenagers to pilot huge robots, known as Evangelions. Of course, this is only the tip of the iceberg for a series that has always been known for its complexity, depth, action, and emotional weight. EVANGELION 3.0 is bound to please old fans of the series while introducing a whole new generation to this amazing work. This is one of those rare anime stories that rises above most people’s expectations of the genre.

“The Evangelions rank in the top bracket of contraptions dreamt up by Japanese animators.” –Variety

If you’re just joining the story or want to refresh your memory on the first parts of the saga, we offer special screenings of EVANGELION 1.0: YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE and EVANGELION 2.0: YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE on Saturday, January 11 and Sunday, January 12.
