New Digital Restoration!

Special Engagement February 21–23!

(1947) dir Orson Welles w/Orson Welles, Rita Hayworth, Everett Sloane, Glenn Anders [92 min; DCP]
This stunning film features the beautiful Rita Hayworth as a femme fatale who enchants Welles’ Michael O’Hara and draws him into a mirrored maze of cross-firing plots and deceit. Though Hayworth and Welles’ marriage was on the rocks at the time, their chemistry is unmistakable and their performances help make this one of the best film noirs of all time. Presented in a brand-new digital restoration by Sony Pictures!

““The Lady From Shanghai” has a great back story. It has an even greater finish. The climax, a shootout in a funhouse hall of mirrors, is one of the bravura sequences in all of film, a triumph of hey-look-at-me form over just-the-facts content. It’s high up on any Wellesian Top Ten, and what filmmaker’s Top Ten tops his?” —Mark Feeney, The Boston Globe
