Destry Rides Again

Buy Tickets

(1939) dir George Marshall w/Marlene Dietrich, James Stewart, Brian Donlevy, Charles Winninger, Mischa Auer [94 min; DCP]
Stewart plays another stubborn idealist but this time he’s Tom Destry, a deputy sheriff in the Wild West who refuses to carry a gun. Pitted against an unscrupulous saloon owner (Donlevy) and his sultry accomplice (Dietrich), Destry and his town-drunk-turned-sheriff friend must combat the town’s corruption. A charmingly successful blend of raucous comedy and Western seriousness.
