(2014) dir Jesse Moss w/Keegan Edwards, Jay Reinke [102 min; DCP]
A small North Dakota town faces a crisis when the prospect of work in the oil fields brings a steady stream of desperate new people to their town. A local Lutheran pastor sets up a makeshift shelter at his church to house the newcomers and comes into conflict with his own congregation. Director Jesse Moss’ award-winning documentary reveals the tension between the moral imperative to “love thy neighbor” and the resistance that one small community feels when confronted by a surging river of job-seeking strangers.

“One of the most remarkable examples of layered non-fiction storytelling to come along in some time. – Indiewire

“★★★★” – Peter Keough, The Boston Globe
