Miami Blues (canceled)

Screening canceled – WHAT’S NEW PUSSYCAT? will show in its place at 9:30. We regret any inconvenience.

(1990) dir George Armitage w/Alec Baldwin, Fred Ward, Jennifer Jason Leigh [99 min; TBA]
Based on Charles Willeford’s classic 1984 Florida crime novel, MIAMI BLUES follows the exploits of Junior (Baldwin), a handsome but violent excon. Leigh plays the naïve prostitute that he shacks up with and Ward the grizzled cop named Hoke who’s on their trail. When Junior steals Hoke’s gun and badge (and dentures), he goes on a crime spree that is equal parts audacious and stupid. Few other films capture the sun-baked weirdness of mid-80s Florida as well as MIAMI BLUES.
