THE KNACK… AND HOW TO GET IT

50th Anniversary!

(1965) dir Richard Lester w/Rita Tushingham, Michael Crawford, Ray Brooks, Donal Donnelly [84 min; 35mm]
Made immediately after A Hard Day’s Night, THE KNACK… includes all of the visual flair that Lester employed for the Beatles but with slightly more story to work with. The delightful Rita Tushingham stars as Nancy, a naïve country girl caught in the swirl of swinging ‘60s London. Insanely madcap with an eye for the one-liner and the surreal sight gag, THE KNACK’s apparent frivolousness belies a depth of emotion under the dazzling surface.
