A Field in England

Double Feature with THE HOLY MOUNTAIN

(2013) dir Ben Wheatley w/Julian Barratt, Peter Ferdinando, Richard Glover, Ryan Pope, Reece Shearsmith, Michael Smiley [90 min; DCP]
During the Civil War in 17th-Century England, a small group of deserters flees from a raging battle through an overgrown field. They are captured by an alchemist (Smiley), who forces the group to aid him in his search to find a hidden treasure that he believes is buried in the field.

“It’s about shifting power games, mostly, and suggests a period film made by Samuel Beckett in one of his more playful moods.” – Ty Burr, Boston Globe

“Audacious and wildly brilliant – a stunning cinematic experience.” – Martin Scorsese

“Strikingly original.” – The Hollywood Reporter

“A grisly slice of psychedelia.” – The Guardian
