PLANET OF THE APES (1968) dir Franklin J. Schaffner w/Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, Maurice Evans [112 min; 35mm]
We’re excited to welcome Wes Alwan of the philosophy podcast The Partially Examined Life to the Brattle for an intro to and discussion of the classic sci-fi cautionary tale, PLANET OF THE APES. In this futuristic tale, an astronaut crash lands on a distant planet (at least he thinks it is) that is entirely inhabited by intelligent apes.

This special free screening is a part of our Elements of Cinema series and will be followed by a discussion with the audience.

Guest Speaker: Wes Alwan

Wes Alwan is a writer, cohost of The Partially Examined Life philosophy podcast, and student of psychoanalysis. He lives in Cambridge, MA, where he thinks a lot about the political and moral psychology of film, literature, and contemporary American culture.
