Though the recent mini-series version of Margaret Atwood’s landmark novel has been gathering much acclaim, this first attempt at adapting the story of Offred (played by Natasha Richardson) has much to offer. In a near-future version of the United States, most of the population have become sterile and the desperate upper classes use unwilling surrogates to bear their children.
