Elements Of Cinema is a monthly series of classic film screenings with audience discussion. Free and open to the public, the program presents an ongoing series of historically and culturally significant films, arguably the best in world cinema. From the European masters such as Ingmar Bergman and Andrei Tarkovsky to American popular and cult filmmakers such as Alfred Hitchcock and James Whale, Elements of Cinema gives the community a rare opportunity to see these films in a theater with a large audience—the way they were intended to be seen.
Each screening is followed by a moderated discussion by scholars and subject experts to give audiences historic and aesthetic context for the film.
"There is no way to overstate the case: the Brattle's free Elements of Cinema series is one of the best things about living in Boston, if you like movies." - Bostonist
