Just as if you were participating in a walk-a-thon where someone might pledge a certain amount of money per mile, you can get people to pledge a certain amount of money (say $1, $5, $10 or even $100) per film. OR alternately, people can simply pledge a flat amount to you for participating in the event. You can collect pledges and sign up new sponsors at anytime before November 1. If your employer offers a matching giving program, you can double the amount of your pledges!
You will only be charged the registration fee if you do not succeed in raising more than $1000. We will ask you for a credit card number when you sign up and will run a 1¢ charge on your card. We will then issue you your registration packet, including your card good for unlimited access to Brattle film screenings during the Watch-A-Thon period.
When you pick up your registration package you will receive a tracking card that will be stamped by Brattle employees whenever you come to a film here.
YES! Bring your ticket stubs from other theaters to add them to your total. Films you see at other theaters count as ½ a film, films that you see at the Brattle count as 1 film.
With your registration packet you will also receive a sponsor sheet that you will use to sign up donors. You can also set up an account online with Justgiving.com that will allow your friends and family to donate to your Watch-A-Thon campaign using credit cards. You can also use this online tool to track donations that you receive by check or cash. Visit www.firstgiving.com/bff now to set up your account!
You may collect donations in the form of cash, checks made out to The Brattle Film Foundation or credit card donations made through Firstgiving.com.
You may turn in donations to the Brattle Film Foundation at anytime during the course of the Watch-A-Thon period. Please mail your collected donations to The Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St. Cambridge, MA 02138, Attn. Watch-A-Thon Campaign. You may also drop off your donations at the Brattle box office but please be sure to put them in an envelope and hand them to a manager or box office staff person. Make sure you include your name so that we can properly tally your donations.
There will be two separate prizes: a grand prize for the person who raises the most money for the Brattle Film Foundation and a first prize for the person who sees the most films. Should the person who raises the most money also be the person who sees the most movies, the First Prize will be given to the runner-up. The Grand Prize will include a free rental of the Brattle Theatre for up to 50 people; First Prize will include gift certificates from Cambridge businesses.
Winners will be announced at our Finish Line Party on Monday, November 3rd. Details of the party (including location and time) will be given out with the registration packet.
