Robert Mitchum Centennial Tribute

Mondays & Tuesdays, July 10 – August 29, 2017

Robert Mitchum in THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLEThe Brattle is proud to be the co-sponsor of a brand new digital print taken from the recent Criterion Collection restoration of THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE. And we’re excited to be able to screen it in celebration of what would have been Robert Mitchum’s 100th birthday – August 6, 2017.

And to celebrate his centennial, we’ll take a summer-long look at Mitchum’s career, with a rare 35mm screening of his 1945 break-out role in THE STORY OF G.I. JOE to one of his final on-screen performances in Jim Jarmusch’s DEAD MAN (1995). We’ll stop along the way to revisit some of Mitchum’s most indelible roles, including his terrifying Max Cady in CAPE FEAR, the sinister Harry Powell in THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, shipwrecked Marine corporal Allison (HEAVEN KNOWS, MR. ALLISON), the charming divorcé Jerry Ryan (TWO FOR THE SEESAW), and his 1947 performance in Jacques Tourneur’s landmark noir, OUT OF THE PAST.
