What were your favorite movies of the past year?

I am compiling a list of all of the films released in 2010 and gathering what our staff’s favorite films were. I hope to have all of this posted on the blog next week. But in the meantime, what films awed and inspired you or just plain entertained you last year? There were some big duds, but some highlights as well. I haven’t fully thought out my list but I know that The Oath and Micmacs will both be on it. And since the Brattle shows both the old and the new, if you saw and older movie for the first time in 2010 and it blew you away, post that too!

Edan's Echo PartyCheck out the review of Edan’s Echo Party (11/30/10) on Visions of the Unexcused. Visions is a music podcast showcasing the taste and styles of DJ Digital-Derek. Originally a weekly radio show at 90.9 fm WONY in Oneonta, NY, VOE has since been revived as a podcast.

“It was hard not to smile while being barraged with this mind-bending presentation, and I couldn’t help but notice the intense work put into the project by both Fitzgerald and Edan. The whole film just dripped with a heavy brush that was wet with cool, and for me at least, it was a true inspiration.”

TROLL 2 Memories

crw_2723.jpgBest Worst Movie is playing somewhere in town… I’ve got great memories from our screening of Troll 2 with the original cast, right here at the Brattle back in July 2007! We had a great time eating green cake and watching what is indisputably the best worst movie, with special guests Michael Stephenson, George Hardy, Darren Ewing, and Jason Steadman on hand to help us celebrate.
