Williams earned his third Academy Award nomination for his role in Terry Gilliam’s follow up to Baron Munchausen. Tired of making (and being raked over the coals for) big budget fantasies, Gilliam chose to direct this more modest film about Jack Lucas (Bridges), a disgraced and depressed radio shock jock. Jack tries to turn his life around by helping a psychologically damaged homeless man (Williams) who believes he is an incarnation of the legendary Fisher King – charged with finding and protecting the Holy Grail.
