(1979) dir Michael J. Paradise w/Paige Conner, Joanne Nail, Lance Henriksen, John Huston, Glenn Ford, Shelley Winters, Sam Peckinpah [108 min; 35mm]
THE VISITOR is a crypto-Christian parable about an 8-year-old girl who is – apparently – a great threat to humanity and must be destroyed by an intergalactic warrior played by John Huston. We’ve enjoyed showing the restored DCP of this insane film a few times but we haven’t yet had a chance to screen a 35mm print – but that all changes tonight. Brace yourselves for one of the weirdest films we have ever shown presented in all of its grindhouse glory on scratched and faded celluloid!

“The Mount Everest of insane ’70s Italian movies.” – Mondo Digital

“The Visitor is a mess, but a revelatory one, both a ripe, bizarre thriller and a fascinating example of how filmmakers first responded to the interstellar millions stirred up by Spielberg and George Lucas: by thieving the good bits.” –Village Voice

We’re thrilled to be partnering with the American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) on our fall line-up for the REEL WEIRD BRATTLE series. The folks at AGFA are doing valuable work by collecting, preserving and making available genre and exploitation titles that might otherwise be ignored by more high-fallutin’ institutions. Subsequently, their collection contains some of the weirdest, wildest images ever committed to celluloid – perfect for this series that celebrates cinema at the edge of sanity. Learn more about AGFA and donate to their cause at!
