The Late Show: Area Premiere!

Friday, September 18 – Thursday, September 24

(2014) dir Jonathan Millott, Cary Murnion w/Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill, Jack McBrayer, Leigh Whannell, Nasim Pedrad, Ian Brennn, Jorge Garcia [88 min; DCP]
When frustrated NYC writer Clint (Wood) returns to his smallhometown to try and finish (or maybe start) his novel, he takes a job as a substitute teacher at his old elementary school. His reunion with childhoodcrush Lucy (Pill) – also a teacher at the school – is interrupted by an outbreak of mutant bird flu that turns the school’s students into homicidal maniacs. With the safety of the town – and maybe the world – at stake, a brave band of misfit teachers, including Lucy’s erstwhile fiancé Wade (Wilson), must make a stand against the bloodthirsty tykes.

Gloriously over-the-top, COOTIES is a bloody and hilarious horror-comedy that finally allows both teachers and kids the opportunity to do what they’ve always wanted to: tear each other to shreds.

“Both effectively terrifying and hilarious.” – Kyle Burton, Indiewire

“A hell of a fun time at the movies.” – Mike Reyes, Cinema Blend

“Star-stuffed, well paced and very funny.” – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter

“‘Cooties’ is a ridiculously good time at the movies for viewers who like their laughs with a side of disembowelment.” – Rob Hunter, Film School Rejects

Brattle passes accepted. All times PM unless noted.

Dear Brattle Friends,

You guys continue to humble and amaze us with your outpouring of support!

Thanks to you, we have now raised more than $35,000 from over 400 individual donors!

Thank you for helping to keep our staff paid and The Brattle alive during this scary time.

I hope that you are all feeling healthy.

As we remain closed, our preliminary goal is to raise four weeks of operating support, or $65,000, to ensure we can continue to pay all of our staff, and other overhead through April 7. As things develop, our timeline for being closed and fundraising goal may change, but our ultimate goal of re-opening The Brattle stays firm.

With your help, this goal will become a reality.

Stay healthy,

Ivy, Ned & The Brattle Theatre Team
