Elements of Cinema: An American Werewolf in London

Free Screening and Discussion – Passes Not Required

Free Screening!

Introduction by Mark Anastasio!

(1981) dir John Landis w/Griffin Dunne, David Naughton [97 min; 35mm]
Please join us for this special full moon screening of John Landis’ immortal horror/comedy – one of the rare times when that particular hybrid is legitimately both funny and scary. While hiking on the moors of England, David and Jack, two Americans, are attacked by a werewolf and David is killed. Jack survives but winds up growing hair in all the wrong places and soon finds himself haunted by the gruesome spirit of his dead friend.

Mark Anastasio is the program manager at the Coolidge Corner Theatre and programmer of their ongoing Coolidge After Midnight series.

This event is free and open to the public.

Supplemental Reading:
In preparation for our screening, we’ve compiled a list of reviews and further reading from the likes of Roger Ebert, The New York Times‘ Janet Maslin, and Huffington Post‘s Jim Hill. Check out the post on the Brattle Film Notes blog→
