(1931) dir Fritz Lang w/Peter Lorre [111 min; DCP]
Peter Lorre’s legendary performance as a child murderer ruthlessly pursued by both the police and the criminal underworld is correctly cited as one of the best in cinema history. The moody and expressionistic direction by the great Fritz Lang is a clear precursor to the shadow-laden atmosphere of the film noir.
