Double Feature with 1984
(1966) dir François Truffaut w/ Oskar Werner, Julie Christie, Cyril Cusack, Anton Diffring [112 min; Digital]
In François Truffaut’s version of Ray Bradbury’s novel, Oskar Werner plays Montag, a fireman in a dystopian society where he is tasked not with quenching fires but rather with starting them in piles of banned books. After meeting an unusual young woman (Christie), and unable to suppress his curiosity, Montag soon starts to hoard illegal literature – much to the dismay of his law-abiding wife (also Christie).
