The Late Show: New Digital Restoration!

Friday, December 1 – Sunday, December 3

(1980) dir Lech Kowalski w/The Sex Pistols, Nancy Spungen, The Dead Boys, Generation X, The X-Ray Spex, Sham 69 [90 min; DCP]
A longtime cult favorite, this incendiary look at punk’s origins is now theatrically available for the first time since the 1980s – and in a brand new digital restoration! D.O.A. centers around the Sex Pistols’ ill-fated ’78 U.S. tour, which ended with the group infamously disbanding. This Molotov cocktail of a film (produced by High Times Magazine) also features incredible, indelible live footage of punk giants X-Ray Spex, Generation X w/ Billy Idol, Sham 69 and the Dead Boys. Director Lech Kowalski deftly weaves this raucous experience together with footage of edgy trends in the fashion capitals, punks of all shapes/sizes and silly naysaying from critics.

“D.O.A….is as much of a Woodstock as punk may ever inspire.” – New York Times

“The Sex Pistols’ rendition of ‘God Save The Queen’ alone is worth the price of admission.” – Village Voice

“It’s the eerie Spungen-Vicious dialogue that will probably haunt most viewers.” – Rolling Stone
