Jersey, the Channel Islands: Moll Huntford (Jessie Buckley, Taboo), 27, is a young woman who has yet to really begin her life. Kept on a tight leash by a controlling family ever since she was involved in a violent incident as a teenager, Moll still lives at home—ostensibly to take care of her aging father, but really to remain under the watchful eye of her domineering mother Hilary.

When Moll runs away from her own birthday party, she meets Pascal (Johnny Flynn, Lovesick), a mysterious outsider, who stands in complete contrast to everything Moll has ever known. Captivated by his strange charm, she begins a passionate love affair with Pascal that allows her to breathe for the first time in her life.

However, when the body of a young girl is found on the island—the fourth victim of a sexually motivated serial killer—Pascal falls under the suspicion of Moll’s family and the community at large. Moll is faced with a decision: Does she fall in line with her mother’s wishes and end the relationship? Or does she defend the man she loves and break free from the hold her family has over her? Isolated and afraid, Moll must face her own past to discover who she truly is and what she is capable of.
