Featuring the first credited score by Philip Glass, INQUIRING NUNS follows two Catholic nuns as they crisscross the streets of Chicago in 1967 asking people, “Are you happy?” Operating from a manifesto of ‘Cinematic Social Inquiry’ this little-seen cinéma vérité gem captures the attitudes, fears, and dreams of everyday Chicagoans, giving audiences and researchers insight into the political and social climate of 1960’s America.

Staff Pick: Brandon – I’ve never seen this but it looks fascinating.

“Shot in a rudimentary but pleasingly grainy black-and-white, with hypnotic organ music from Philip Glass (his first credited feature-length film score), this hourlong picture is a delight.” – Glenn Kenny, New York Times
