Go Fish

25th Anniversary

1994 • dir Rose Throche w/Guinevere Turner, V.S.Brodie • 83 min • 35mm

This groundbreaking romantic comedy about a group of lesbian friends in Chicago centers on the attraction and developing relationship between Guinevere Turner’s hip, young Max and V.S. Brodie’s bohemian Ely. A major art house hit upon its release, GO FISH proved to Hollywood that a lesbian-themed film could be a success at the box office and helped propel Turner and director Rose Troche into successful film and TV careers.

“Go Fish is a blithe and funkily stylish celebration of community — a twentysomething girl-meets-girl comedy whose charm is in its matter-of-fact disregard for what a straight audience might think.”
– David Ansen, Newsweek
