Elements of Cinema: Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland

Screening details TBA – stay tuned!

Free Screening & Discussion

1989 • dir Masami Hata, William T. Hurtz • 85 min • 35mm

The passion project of legendary Japanese animation producer Yutaka Fujioka (Lupin III, Golgo 13, Space Adventure Cobra), LITTLE NEMO is a cross-Pacific production that draws from both Japanese and Western animation styles and themes based on the amazing Winsor McCay comic strip. A box office bomb in both countries when it premiered, this phantasmagoric fantasy from the anime studio that created Akira seems ripe for rediscovery and we’re excited to welcome Lesley University professor Tim Finn to tell us more about why.

This special free screening is presented as part of our Elements of Cinema series, and will be followed by an audience discussion led by NAME.

Guest Speaker:

Tim Finn

Adjunct Faculty, Lesley University

Tim Finn owns Hub Comics, is an adjunct professor of animation history and comics at Lesley Art + Design, and is writing the definitive history of G.I. Joe as a deluxe coffee table book.
