Kill Bill Vol 1

Double Feature with KILL BILL VOL 2 (9:00)

2003 • dir Quentin Tarantino w/Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Daryl Hannah, Michael Madsen, Chiaki Kuriyama, Sonny Chiba, Gordon Liu • 111 min • DCP

One of Quentin Tarantino’s most tasty gumbos of exploitation influences, KILL BILL is a female revenge tale so epic that it had to be split into two parts.

Unfortunately, this production – which should (and does) stand as a celebration of female power – is now marred by the involvement of disgraced indie mogul Harvey Weinstein and the treatment that Uma Thurman experienced behind the camera. We will be donating a portion of ticket sales from all of the Weinstein-produced titles in this program to the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center in recognition of the women that he victimized.

Staff Pick! Moussou: “If you don’t have time for both movies, Volume One is especially worth the watch on its own.”

“Brutally bloody and thrillingly callous from first to last.”
– Peter Bradshaw, Guardian

“Kill Bill: Volume 1 shows Quentin Tarantino so effortlessly and brilliantly in command of his technique that he reminds me of a virtuoso violinist racing through Flight of the Bumble Bee ”
– Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
