1981 • dir Terry Gilliam w/Craig Warnock, David Rappaport, Kenny Baker, Malcolm Dixon, Mike Edmonds, Jack Purvis, Tiny Ross, David Warner, John Cleese, Sean Connery, Shelley Duvall, Katherine Helmond, Ian Holm, Ralph Richardson • 110 min • DCP

Terry Gilliam’s absurdist fantasy extravaganza is back on the big screen thanks to our friends at Janus Films and, with his latest film The Man Who Killed Don Quixote fresh in our minds, we thought it a great time to revisit one of his classics. Young Kevin (Warnock) launches himself on an adventure through time and space in the company of a group of lovable pan-dimensional scoundrels – not knowing that he is putting himself at the epicenter of a clash between good and evil.

“Amazingly well-produced. The historic locations are jammed with character and detail. This is the only live-action movie I’ve seen that literally looks like pages out of Heavy Metal magazine.”
– Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

“A cheerfully irreverent lark — part fairy tale, part science fiction and part comedy.”
– Vincent Canby, New York Times

“The film is resolutely, passionately antiadult, yet much of the humor has an adult sophistication and edge to it; this is one kids’ movie that doesn’t condescend.”
– Dave Kehr, Chicago Reader

Dear Brattle Friends,

You guys continue to humble and amaze us with your outpouring of support!

Thanks to you, we have now raised more than $35,000 from over 400 individual donors!

Thank you for helping to keep our staff paid and The Brattle alive during this scary time.

I hope that you are all feeling healthy.

As we remain closed, our preliminary goal is to raise four weeks of operating support, or $65,000, to ensure we can continue to pay all of our staff, and other overhead through April 7. As things develop, our timeline for being closed and fundraising goal may change, but our ultimate goal of re-opening The Brattle stays firm.

With your help, this goal will become a reality.

Stay healthy,

Ivy, Ned & The Brattle Theatre Team
