Chet’s Last Call: A Story of Rock & Redemption

Filmmaker Q+A Following the Screening!

2018 • dir Dan Vitale, Ted Vitale w/Richard “Chet” Rooney

Richard “Chet” Rooney is a legend of the Boston music scene – both for his ‘80s North Station dive bar and his oversized personality. His bar, Chet’s Last Call, regularly hosted Boston rock royalty as well as national acts like the Beastie Boys and Hüsker Dü. In its day, Chet’s rivaled The Rat as Boston’s punk club of choice. This DIY documentary focuses not only on the glory days but also on the consequences of living a life of excess – and the man who grew and changed after experiencing those consequences.

Staff Pick: Dave: “A must see for a look at a former Boston iconic bar and live music venue, hang on to yer seats…”

“The epitome of dirty Boston Rock n’ Roll.”
– Linda Viens, Legendary Boston Singer

“Boston rock history isn’t complete without a look at Chet’s Last Call, a seedy but spirited ’80s club where many noted acts cut their chops under the guidance of eccentric yet beloved owner Chet Rooney. This head-spinning new film is a raucous, fast-paced tribute to him and the underground, anything-goes music of the time.”
– Steve Morse, former music critic at The Boston Globe

“A warmly spun grassroots documentary.”
– Paul Robicheau, Improper Bostonian

Boston Hassle: “Interview: Dan Vitale & Sean Brann on ‘Chet’s Last Call’”
