GlobeDocs: Bloodroot

GLOBEDOCS FILM FESTIVAL

FILMMAKER IN PERSON!

Director: Douglas Tirola • Producer: Susan Bedusa • Year: 2019 • Length: 97 minutes

In the 1970s, two suburban housewives were inspired to open a groundbreaking vegetarian restaurant in New England. Selma made the decision to leave her husband and open Bloodroot in Bridgeport, CT with Noel, her friend and one-time lover. Over the next 40 years, Bloodroot became a gathering space for women, hosting a community of well-known feminists from around the country. BLOODROOT tells the story of two women trying to live their lives by a set of ideals and delivers the history of the national women’s movement in America.
