Due to Governor Baker’s extension of the order to close non-essential businesses and limit the size of public gatherings, all screening have been canceled through Monday, May 4. We thank you for your continued support.
2015 • dir The Wachowskis w/Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Eddie Redmayne, Sean Bean, Douglas Booth, Tuppence Middleton, Doona Bae • 127 min • 35mm
Widely considered to be a misfire from the Wachowskis, JUPITER ASCENDING is still a typically audacious film from the dynamic directing duo. Some may find the sheer nuttiness of it to be too over-the-top but it is also fantastically entertaining and joyously weird. Mila Kunis stars as a woman with no prospects who discovers that she is an intergalactic heir being tracked by alien bounty hunters. Luckily, she has a loyal and handsome protector in the form of half-man/half-canine ex-soldier played by Channing Tatum.
Staff Pick! Alex: “A strange, inventive space opera starring Channing Tatum as a dog-boy with rocket boots, this film revels in all the weirdness, silliness, and imagination of the science-fiction genre. Wachowskis forever!”
