Noir City: Boston 2019

Presented by the Film Noir Foundation and the Brattle

Friday, June 7 – Sunday, June 9, 2019

The Brattle is thrilled to welcome back the fine folks from the Film Noir Foundation for a second year exploring the shadowy side of the cinematic street. Film noir screenings have been a tradition at the Brattle since – well – the beginning but it was only last year that we hooked up with the ongoing NOIR CITY festivals to present a dedicated Boston edition. Film Noir Foundation honcho and Turner Classic Movies host Eddie Muller will be on hand to introduce a spectacular selection of movies that he has handpicked to highlight the dark art of noir filmmaking. This year’s theme is ‘Film noir of the 1950s’ and that decade’s preoccupations – from racial tension to nuclear terror to the price of defying conformity – are on full display across these 5 double features. Dear Brattle Friends,

You guys continue to humble and amaze us with your outpouring of support!

Thanks to you, we have now raised more than $35,000 from over 400 individual donors!

Thank you for helping to keep our staff paid and The Brattle alive during this scary time.

I hope that you are all feeling healthy.

As we remain closed, our preliminary goal is to raise four weeks of operating support, or $65,000, to ensure we can continue to pay all of our staff, and other overhead through April 7. As things develop, our timeline for being closed and fundraising goal may change, but our ultimate goal of re-opening The Brattle stays firm.

With your help, this goal will become a reality.

Stay healthy,

Ivy, Ned & The Brattle Theatre Team
