Reel Music Film Festival 2015

Wednesday, November 11 – Sunday, November 15, 2015

The merger of music and film is a natural combination – whether it’s the traditional score that drives the action, a perfectly matched soundtrack, or a full on musical. Some films take the connection a step further to embrace music as its subject. With this new annual festival we focus on that unique breed with premieres, encores, and classics. Included are special premiere screenings of DANNY SAYS (about one of the unheralded forces behind the NYC music scene of the 60s and 70s), HOT SUGAR’S COLD WORLD (a portrait of the artist DJ Cold Sugar), and INDUSTRIAL SOUNDTRACK FOR THE URBAN DECAY (about the birth of industrial music). We are also thrilled to present two restorations of rarely seen music films: A POEM IS A NAKED PERSON, Les Blank’s 1974 portrait of Leon Russell, and HUMAN HIGHWAY, a supremely weird 1982 sci-fi film by Neil Young. Plus more more more!
