The Best of Bogart

Friday, October 4—Wednesday, October 15, 2013

To celebrate the Brattle Theatre’s 60th anniversary as a cinema, we honor one of film’s most enduringly cool and charismatic stars, Humphrey Bogart. Of course, Bogie holds a special place in our hearts here at the Brattle; in the ‘60s, the Brattle was credited with helping Bogie gain his rightful place amongst the pantheon of cinematic legends with regular screenings of his films that were wildly popular. Since then, he has been a fixture on our screen, still drawing crowds 70 years after the peak of his fame. Join us for this series of some of Bogart’s best films including his breakthrough performances in HIGH SIERRA and THE PETRIFIED FOREST; all four features that he made with the love of his life, Lauren Bacall; his Oscar-winning turn in THE AFRICAN QUEEN; and, of course, the mighty CASABLANCA, alongside many more. Don’t miss the Brattle Film Foundation Annual Gala, which will include a special tribute to CASABLANCA! The Gala takes place Sunday, October 6 at Regattabar at the Charles Hotel.

Please Note: The WE’RE NO ANGELS/BEAT THE DEVIL double feature originally scheduled for Wednesday 10/16 has been moved to Sunday 10/13 – see below for updated showtimes. We regret any inconvenience.
