Dead of Winter: Satan on Screen (2013)

Friday, January 18 – Thursday, January 24, 2013

WITCHCRAFT THROUGH THE AGES, showing Wed 1/23 with F.W. Murnau's FAUSTFor such a powerful figure in the social history of the world, it’s not surprising that the Devil would have a strong presence on cinema screens. What is surprising is the range of films that he (or she) appears in. From thrillers like ROSEMARY’S BABY and PRINCE OF DARKNESS to comedies (DECONSTRUCTING HARRY), foreign classics (CANTEBURY TALES), musicals (DAMN YANKEES), and more, Satan, it seems, has his claws in every type of film. He even inspired one of the world’s most legendarily serious filmmakers, Ingmar Bergman, to make an outright comedy, THE DEVIL’S EYE! So join us for this celluloid exploration of the lord of the underworld and see whether your chills are coming just from the weather.

Please Note: Due to print availability issues we will be unable to screen HEAVEN CAN WAIT and BEDAZZLED—see below for program changes. We regret any inconvenience.
