Castles in the Sky: Miyazaki, Takahata, and the Masters of Studio Ghibli

Friday, August 31—Thursday, September 13, 2012
Master Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki and his studio Ghibli have been responsible for some of the most moving, exciting, whimsical, and magical animated films ever produced. Considered by many to be on the same level as Walt Disney when it comes to imagination and storytelling, Miyazaki has gathered together a stable of wonderful directors, writers and animators who have together churned out remarkable films like PRINCESS MONONOKE, SPIRITED AWAY, MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO, CASTLE IN THE SKY, and many more. The Brattle is thrilled to bring this major retrospective, which features all of Ghibli’s key titles as well as some rarely screened gems, to Cambridge this fall.
