The Film and… Festival: Year Zero

This new festival – officially launching in 2020 – will feature, well, Film AND… just about anything. The focus is on expanded film screenings and film-related events and will include live scores, comedy and theater performances, interviews, art exhibits, concerts, lectures, visiting artists of all disciplines, and more.

For this “Year Zero” iteration of the festival, the Brattle will host a soft-launch focusing on just a handful of events, including the launch of a new limited-edition poster; a special screening with a comedic guest; and a silent film with live accompaniment.

The centerpiece of the “Year Zero” edition of the FILM AND… FESTIVAL is a special screening on Saturday evening with acclaimed author Jonathan Lethem (Fortress of Solitude, Motherless Brooklyn, The Feral Detective), who has invited his friend and fellow author Susan Choi (American Woman, A Person of Interest, Trust Exercise) to the Brattle for a ‘live commentary track’ for Nicholas Ray’s BIGGER THAN LIFE – expect a wide-ranging conversation during this experiment!
