Brattle Membership FAQs

General Membership FAQs

Do I need my member card when I go to the box office?

  • Yes. Our staff at the box office doesn’t have access to our member database, so they can’t verify your membership without seeing your card. Also, for members with punch cards, this is the only way to redeem free passes.

Is there a way for me to skip picking up tickets at the box office when there is a line?

  • Not at this time. Currently, everyone has to check in at the box office to get a ticket whether they have purchased tickets in advance or are buying them in person.
  • TIP: The best way to possibly avoid a line is to come early to get your tickets. There is usually a line starting 10–15 minutes prior to show time.

How do I know when I can use my membership passes?

  • Membership passes are valid at all screenings, unless the program is marked NO BRATTLE PASSES. Passes are not valid for Harvard Bookstore Readings, Trash Night, select film festivals, etc.

How long are my membership benefits valid?

  • All memberships are valid for 1 year. There is an expiration date stamped on your membership card. Expired passes and membership cards are not valid and won’t be accepted at the box office.
  • For renewals, the new expiration date will be 1 year from your current expiration date.

What are the Brattle’s box office hours?

  • Our box office opens 30 minutes before the first screening of the day.
  • Tickets for each consecutive show are available 30 minutes after the previous show begins (i.e. there is a 5:30 and a 7:30 PM show. The 5:30 tickets go on sale at 5:00, the 7:30 tickets go on sale at 6:00.)

What if I have other questions?

  • For further questions, please call the Brattle Theatre offices at 617-876-8021, or email our membership coordinator at [email protected].

Regular & Dual Membership FAQs

How do I redeem my free passes for tickets?

  • You can only do this at the box office. Simply inform our staff that you are a member, the number of tickets you would like, and present your member punch card.

Can I redeem my free member passes online for advance tickets?

  • Unfortunately not, but you can purchase tickets at the member discount price online.

I am worried that the film I want to see will sell out in advance.

  • For shows that are selling out in advance, we reserve some tickets at the box office specifically for member passes. There is a small number of these tickets (between 20–50) and they are first come, first serve, available on the day of the screening, so we recommend coming early to get yours. (*see box office hours at the top for info on times)
  • The other option is to purchase advance tickets online at the member price. Please present your membership card when picking up tickets at the box office.

How do Double Features work with my free member passes?

  • That’s another member perk! You only need to use one free member pass when attending a Double Feature.

Is there a limit to the number of passes I can use at one time?

  • No. Feel free to use your passes for family and friends when you come to the Brattle.

What do I do when I have used all of my free passes?

  • You have two options. You can simply renew your membership early and get more free passes or you can use your current membership to purchase tickets at the member discount price until it expires.
